Fire Ready Requirements
With the fire season fast approaching, the RMB would like to remind lessees of their responsibility to ensure that their properties are fire ready by 30 November each year. Some practical tips to meet this requirement include:

  • Cut/whipper-snip long grass
  • Remove wood and rubbish (flammable or not) from around your building
  • Do not stack firewood on or under timber balconies
  • Close all property windows and doors
  • Reduce gaps in your building (i.e. seal up any holes in eaves and cladding)
  • Rake up areas of fine fuel such as leaf litter and bark
  • Remove fallen limbs and twigs

In regards to the removal of vegetation, please note that specific permission must be obtained to carry out any works outside of what is listed above. For any issues relating to management of vegetation for the purpose of fire prevention please contact our Environmental Services Manager, Louise Perrin, Ph: 03 5777 7223 or email prior to removal works.

Site Clean Up Weekend: 26-27 November
In order to assist stakeholders in preparing their properties for the fire season, a clean-up weekend will be held on 26-27 November 2016.

During this time, you can leave any trimmed grass, leaves and foliage collected during the weekend by the kerbside for later collection by RMB staff.

Please note that no hard waste will be collected at this time. Please do not place hard waste on the kerbside. To find out more about hard waste collection, please click here.

RMB will facilitate appointments with qualified local arborists to assist with tree pruning for a fee of $195 per hour (ex GST). Bookings are essential and a minimum of 8 x 1 hour appointments are needed per day for this service to be viable.

Officers from the CFA will also be available to provide advice on how best to protect your property from bushfire and ember attack.

To register your interest in this community focused event and/or register for tree pruning, please contact Louise Perrin on 03 5777 7223 or email

Nominated Fire/Emergency Contact:
Please nominate a fire and emergency contact by completing the relevant form that can be found here, and return it to the RMB. The fire and emergency contact should be familiar with your building and your emergency procedures and must be able to authorise access and/or works in an emergency.
